[PHPTAL] templates only parsed, if ending is .html?

hi,

while adding code from old projects, i left/forgot some old php-code inside
a test-template. the old php-code was processed and delivered with correct
result.
so i tried to rename this file from test.html to test.php. i corrected also
the macro call to 'templates/content/test.php/test', but i got a result with
only my leading comment-lines inside the template.

so my resulting questen is: did i something wrong or are only .html-files
parsed?
