[PHPTAL] PHPTAL shows blank page

Hello,

  I wanted to try phptal so I downloaded the latest.tar.gz package, 
unpacked it and copied the example from manual on the web page, but it 
still doesn't show any content. all it shows is a blank page. no error 
no notice. I tried debuging it and found out that the whole process goes 
through, it just filters out all the content in parseString in 
dom/xmlparser.php.
I'm running PHP 5.1.4. Does anybody have any idea what could be the 
problem here?
