Hi list,

I would like to wish to everyone an happy new year and best wishes for
2007 !

haXe started now a little more than 1 year ago (see http://haxe.org/news
for the timeline) and it has grown into a great programming language !

The time between two releases is getting longer, which is perfectly
normal since there are not so much bugs left or missing features. And
most of the new APIs that have been introduced since the beginning are
now stable, which is a good sign of maturity.

Here's a short-list of things that we should enjoy in the haXe world
during this 2007 year :

- the haXe AS3 code generator : code using haxe, and generate the
corresponding AS3 classes on-demand. Very useful for people working as
contractors, since you can give the sources of your work as AS3.

- more IDE support : adding completion to the FlashDevelop plugin, and
there are also good chances that FDT will support haXe in the near
future, happy FDT users !

- SWHX on Linux : I guess a lot of people are waiting for this, so all
the Flash users will finally get an opensource crossplatform Flash
Desktop Application solution.

- community libraries : XInf, Arctic, ActionStep/ASwing ports, ... the
more people contribute new libraries to haXe, the more this will extend
haXe capabilities. There's no limit to the number of things you can do
with haXe.

- haXe Book and docs : Lee McColl-Sylvester is currently writing an haXe
Book that will be published this year. This will definitly boost haXe
popularity and accessibility. More tutorials, more API documentation, a
complete language reference, all of these should also come in 2007.

- haxeVideo : a project I'm currently working on. An FLV streaming and
web conference server, entirely written in haXe. More about this soon.

- and most important... you ! I wish you will be happy haXe users this
year, and that it will help you with your work, both in terms of
productivity and fun ! Don't forget to post your haXe Success Stories on
the list or on the Wiki.

Do I forgot something ? Do you also have haXe wishes for 2007 ? Don't
hesitate to share your ideas here, it's an open discussion place.

Again, Happy haXe year !
And don't forget to have fun :)

Nicolas
