But EReg is listed in the documentations, I would have expected that it works if it's in the docs. Plus, Flex has the RegExp class, I built a small arithmetic expression parser in it. I've been intending to extend it and wanted to use Haxe because of the better type system, but if Haxe doesn't have regex support then I guess that's impossible.
